The Season of Receiving

Awards season is upon us and besides my red carpet excitement, awards season is highly entertaining. The public has graduated from the perception that awards season is nothing more than a bunch of rich people getting dressed up and patting each other on the back. Awards season is about culture, its about accomplishment, and its about intellectualism. More importantly, what will Joan Rivers have to say on The Fashion Police the next day?
With last year being the first year there were 10 nominees for best picture at the Oscars, a change in the perception of the Academy Awards was noted from the general audience. No longer is film's biggest honor given to a picture no one has heard of, or at least something you've heard of has been nominated.
It seems the Golden Globes, the Grammys, and the Oscars have only gone up in quality, and in turn viewers, following the writer's strike in the dismal awards season of 2008. So turn on the Golden Globes Sunday night. You may just have a fashion epiphany. More importantly, you will see some of the greatest people of our time honored by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in film and television.
