Young Artist Awards

The 31st annual Young Artist awards were held in Studio City, CA on Sunday April 11th, 2010. The organization prides itself in bringing together the world's brightest young talent- because no matter where one is from- a passion for art is a universal language. Maureen Dragone, whose mother was a part in founding the Golden Globes, feels this type of award ceremony is a "dream come true" die to the fact that child stars are often slighted in most awards ceremonies. The past few years, child stars have been good enough to try and draw a younger audience to the award show galas, however nominations for these accomplished stars have been few and far between. The non profit organization honors those stars under the age of 18.
Although Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Jason Dolley, and Jake T Austin were nominated, none of the Disney Stars fared very well in their categories. However, it is a testament to the talent at hand that all of these stars from the Disney Channel were nominated. (Most of them turning 18 this year) Nate Hartley won for a guest appearance on Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel. He also made a guest appearance on JONAS. I focus on the Disney stars because the career path of this generation of Disney stars is going to be interesting, with some sticking with Disney, and others branching out to Broadway, and the big screen.
