2010 Best New Artist: JUSTIN BIEBER!

The VMA’s are always one of the most buzzed about awards shows. This morning on Fox 25- Boston, reporters commented on the show, saying “Justin Bieber won an award, he’s only 16 what has he done to earn an award?” These types of comments are exactly why I started “Where It All Begins…” Talent comes in all shapes, sizes, and ages. The VMA’s are about the art and the viewers, and it was refreshing to see Bieber get the award for Best New Artist. Justin’s fans span a couple generations and his music is widely played across the pop and Hip- Hop circuit. Young stars seem to be invited to awards shows, with the sometimes obvious intent of boosting ratings. However, young stars seem to miss being recognized for their contributions to the industry. Past snubs to the award for Best New Artist at the VMA’s include: The Jonas Brothers, Carrie Underwood, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, and Drake. Awards shows are about talent, fans, and great press, but perhaps the last time the teen pop crowd had a winning year was 2001 when ‘NSync dominated the VMA’s.  Congrats to Justin and his millions of Beliebers!
Here’s a great article via MTV on Justin’s prep for his VMA Performance:
