Nicholas Goodman Directs His Canine Instinct

Before Nicholas Goodman went to the "doghouse," he started out as an editor living in New York City. He began cutting trailers for motion picture advertising. Some of his many notable credits include Star Wars Attack of the Clones, Minority Report, and many more. Goodman has also directed the well received shorts Swing Blade and Stigmata .44
Nicholas took an interest in canine lover/ trainer Kyle Warren. When they met, Goodman was "struck with originality" observing the instances of aggressive canine behavior. It began with Nicholas and a camera, chasing dogs around, seeing where it took him. Goodman was itching to make a film, and this was the perfect opportunity.
Canine Instinct presents the relationship of humans and dogs. It shows that dogs are heirarchical creatures, who need structure and will exhibit sometimes dangerous behaviors if they don't know their place.
Goodman's wife Hortencia, who produced the film has over a decade of studio experience. She has been involved with every level of distribution at the studio level. The irony of it all? Hortencia is allergic to dogs!
The filming took place in New York, and the Goodmans ended up moving to Woodstock for 2 years out of the 3 total years it took for the film to be completed. Both Hortencia and Nicholas enjoyed the creative process of putting the film together. With over 100 hours of footage, there was no shortage of editing work.

Check out Canine Instinct. The film will surprise and entertain you, watching how the delicate balance of the relationship between man and his best friend is maintained.
