Social Media Gives the Appetite for The Hunger Games

Just 50 days until the opening day of The Hunger Games movie. In celebration Lionsgate is giving away tickets to the March 12th premiere at the Nokia Theater in LA via Twitter to fans. Tweet #Hungergames50 for a chance to win through many of the partners of The Hunger Games Movie. 

Announced yesterday, The Hunger Games will have its very own Facebook game, "The Hunger Games Adventures," where players can explore the 12 districts, completing missions along the way. It's a sign of the times that the official game for this film is being launched on Facebook, the world's most prominent social tool. The game will provide fans with a first look at the world of Panem, and the layout of the districts. The world will slowly reveal itself, much like unraveling the story through the pages of a book.

Hollywood Hunks: Hungry For The Game

Jennifer Lawrence of Winter's Bone was cast early on for the highly anticipated Hunger Games, and at last the male leads have been announced. Liam Hemsworth of (The Last Song) and Josh Hutcherson of (The Kids Are Alright) complete the love triangle. It's quite a contrast of backgrounds for these two actors, one is associated with an Oscar nominated film, the other had his breakout role last spring in a Nicholas Sparks' film and is often associated with his singing co-star girlfriend. Hunger Games should be the role that defines these actors' careers. This sci-fi will bring into the hearts of many young women anywhere Hollywood's two freshest stars. Finally something to get us past R-Pattz and Twilight...  

What will 2011 Entertain Us With?

Thor: A comic book classic starring Chris Hemsworth and Anthony Hopkins. Liam Hemsworth tried out for this film, but his older brother won the battle. This film has been buzzed about for over a year, and its coming to a theater near you May 2011!  


LOL: A remake of a 2008 French film starring Miley Cyrus, Ashley Greene, Demi Moore, Douglas Booth, and Adam Sevani. When Cyrus signed onto the script, Hollywood was abuzz, since her character kisses a girl, smokes, and has sex. I say, "Hannah who?" This comedic flick has a great storyline, and is sure to hit close to home for mothers and daughters everywhere.

Joe Jonas' Solo Album: I was never sure if the middle Jo Bro could measure up to his younger brother Nick's talent and suave. After some solos in Camp Rock 2, I'm sure there is plenty of space in the music world for a solo side project from Joe Jonas.


Justin Bieber's 3-D Concert Movie: 3-D Concert movies are the new smart phones for musicians. Girls everywhere will get to be with Justin via the big screen this coming Valentine's Day.

So Undercover: For someone who said she was "taking a break", Miley Cyrus sure is working a lot. Starring Cyrus, Kelly Osbourne, and Joshua Bowman, this action-comedy directed by Tom Vaughn will hopefully be a better view than the ever so hyped about Bounty Hunter.

Demi Lovato: Ms. Lovato is set to release a new album in 2011 and will also tour (minus some Jonas Brothers) to promote her new tunes.


Smurfs: Katy Perry as a Smurf. Enough said.


Taylor Swift's World Tour: Bringing Fearless everywhere. You too can breathe the same air as Taylor Swift.

Nickelodeon's Australian Kid's Choice Awards 2010

The show will be over before some kids in the US get up for school Friday morning, but this should still be kind of a big deal on the US entertainment news circuit!

Below are the nominees for the 2010 Nickelodeon Australian Kid's Choice Awards hosted by none other than Liam Hemsworth along with Jessica Mauboy, and Jerry Trainor. My question is why Liam is missing from the "Hottest Hottie" Category... Liam, you win my award for favorite Aussie!

The Last Song: DVD review

Many dramas tend to try and force emotion out of the audience. Some movies have certain aspects that are so obviously intended to draw on emotions (Remember Me) that it makes me laugh. The Last Song has an emotional element that the critics don't seem to see. It's a story of family, faith, love, and life. Many reviews on this film have called it "generic" and write it off as a tired, sappy story. Bobby Coleman is great as Jonah in this film, and it's sure this won't be his "last song." Liam Hemsworth has a great character and has great chemistry with not only Cyrus but all the actors in the film. 
Not very often does a book come alive on screen as well as The Last Song does. It rightfully should however, seeing as Sparks wrote the screenplay before he wrote the book. There are a few variations from the book, but not distracting enough to take away from the film.
 Sparks wrote The Last Song with lead actress Miley Cyrus in mind, and the character fits well. Many people have said they had a hard time getting the blond wig out of their head while watching Cyrus in this film, but by the time she throws her  first hissy fit, you'll be saying, "Hannah who?" Greg Kinnear was just awesome in this film, he nailed a dramatic role that wasn't an easy character to play. Here is a favorite quote from the movie, "

“Love is fragile. And we’re not always its best caretakers. We just muddle through and do the best we can. And hope this fragile thing survives... Against all odds.” If you enjoy movies that have a message without pounding it into your head, you'll love The Last Song.The DVD also contains an alternate opening and some sweet bonus features! Pick up a copy on Tuesday, and let us know what you think! 

Beliebers and TwiHards Unite! Teen Choice Awards 2010

Spoiler Alert! Teen Choice Awards winners 2010 announced! I'm not sure how entertaining it can get without ice cream carts (sigh). Katy Perry is the host which always equates to some craziness, but there's not too much for the press to pick apart. No surprises on this years winner's list- Twilight and Justin Bieber steal the show. The Jonas Brothers were absent from any music related category- but did pick up an award for showing off their acting skills in JONAS. The Teen Choice Awards represents what's hot at the moment and this is it. If you haven't seen Twilight and you don't own a copy or two of My World 2.0, face it, you're not cool!

Liam Hemsworth picked up the award for breakout male in The Last Song, but favorite drama went to  The Blind Side. Really? It's like the Oscars all over again! Choice Liplock was a duel of real- life movie couples and Robsten won. All I'm going to say to the voters is that Liam Hemsworth is a much better smoocher than Robert Pattinson. (Please don't beat me up Miley). Miley Cyrus did, after all win choice hissy fit, but then again who didn't have some choice names for her after the way she told Greg Kinnear "Do you not get that," in her Nicholas Sparks drama.

Demi Lovato was robbed again, but, she doesn't need a surfboard to feel the love. Her BFF Selena Gomez picked up a few awards including 2 for her group Selena Gomez and The Scene. Check out the winners for yourself. This year's voter turnout was quite disappointing with only 85 million votes compared to last year's 100 million votes. The numbers are even more disappointing considering that teens are allowed to vote once a day. It's nice to see some new names and faces on the ballot, but judging from the numbers the fans aren't impressed with a change in scenery in their pop culture world.
